
Florida Southern Women Earns #2 Seed in NCAA South Regional

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Florida Southern College women’s lacrosse, fresh off its second-straight Sunshine State Conference Tournament title, earned the No. 2 seed in the South Region of the 2017 NCAA Division II Women’s Lacrosse Tournament, the NCAA announced on Sunday.
The Moccasins will host the winner of the matchup between No. 3 East Stroudsburg and No. 6 Florida Tech. The Warriors and Panthers will play at 3 p.m. on Friday at Bryant Stadium, and the winner will take on the Mocs at 3 p.m. on Saturday for a spot in the Final Four.
Florida Southern, which enters the tournament on a 16-game winning streak, defeated Florida Tech twice this year including the SSS Tournament Championship. The Moccasins have never faced East Stroudsburg.
Lindenwood earned the No. 1 seed in the South Region, while Regis was the No. 4 seed and Queens (NC) was the No. 5 seed. Both Florida Southern and Lindenwood earned first-round byes in the tournament.
In the North Region, Adelphi earned the No. 1 spot while Le Moyne came in at No. 2. Adephi will face the winner of No. 4 New Haven and No. 5 Mercy, while Le Moyne will take on the winner of No. 3 LIU Post and No. 6 NYIT.
During the regular season, Florida Southern faced four teams that were selected to this year’s NCAA Tournament, with wins over Florida Tech and Queens and losses to Adephi and Lindenwood.
