JU Women: Dolphins Cruise to Huge Win over East Carolina

Jacksonville, Fla. – The Jacksonville Women’s Lacrosse program returned to Rock Stadium Saturday and cruised to a 24-5 victory over East Carolina. 

Jenny Kinsey single handedly outscored the Pirates herself, with seven goals. In total, 13 Dolphins found the score column in the effort. Paige Pagano earned the victory in goal for JU (3-2), stopping six shots. 

East Carolina (4-2) was led offensively with two goals apiece from Leah Bestany and Megan Tryniski. 

After trailing 4-3 with 6:19 remaining in the opening quarter, the Dolphins would only surrender one goal the rest of the way, as JU led 7-5 after the opening stanza. 

From there on, Jacksonville outscored the Pirates 17-0 over the remaining three quarters en route to the commanding victory. The Dolphins scored six goals in back-to-back quarters, finishing the contest with four fourth quarter scores. 

Game Notes 
– JU leads the all-time matchup with ECU, 2-0. 
– Kinsey’s seven goals was the most since Feb. 14, 2020, when she posted seven against Oregon
– Maddie Sturgell’s second quarter goal was the first of her career. 
– Pagano’s win in goal was the first of her collegiate career.
