JU Women’s Lacrosse Wins Fifth in a Row on Senior Day

JACKSONVILLE, FLA – Jacksonville Women’s Lacrosse extended their win streak to five on Saturday afternoon when they took down fellow ASUN competitor Kennesaw State by a score of 23-6 on the team’s senior day.

After trading goals with KSU to start the game Jacksonville would then score seven unanswered to finish out the first quarter with an 8-1 advantage. In the frame, Sarah Elms had a hat trick while five other Dolphins also added a goal apiece.

The ‘Phins would then continue their scoring dominance to close out the half, outscoring KSU 5-3 in the second quarter and stretching their lead to nine (13-4).

The second half was also fairly smooth sailing for JU as they opened up the third quarter with two quick goals that moved their lead to 11 and enacted the running clock ruling. Jacksonville would then carry that lead into the fourth quarter where they went on another scoring run, scoring six goals and allowing none to close out the game with a 17-goal margin of victory.

In the match, the scoring duo of Sarah Elms and Jenny Kinsey combined for eight goals and four assists while some new scorers also emerged for the team with Seniors Emily Seiter and Hannah Carolan both grabbing their first goal of the season.

It was a record-breaking day for three Dolphins as Molly BrockAlyssa Arnold and Jenny Kinsey were all able to etch their names in the JU history books. Brock scooped up nine draw controls in the game which moved her career total to 252, snapping the existing school record of 250 career draw controls previously held by former ‘Phin Rachel Hannon.

Late in the first quarter, Alyssa Arnold claimed her first and only assist in the game which moved her career total to 77, breaking the previous school record for career assists at 76. Arnold would maintain a solo hold of this record for all of half a quarter before Jenny Kinsey grabbed her second of two assists on the day moving her career total to 77, which tied Arnold for the lead.

All three Dolphin keepers made appearances in the match with Paige Pagano claiming the win with seven saves on the day.
