Keiser Men’s Lacrosse Fights Through Rain to Take Down Missouri Baptist

Keiser men’s lacrosse defeated the Spartans of Missouri Baptist tonight in Knoxville Tennessee. The Seahawks scored goals in every quarter, and took 53 shots. KU has now extended its win streak to eight games. 

First Quarter
Keiser 1, MBU 0 

  •  The game was a slugfest early on, with each defense holding firm.
  • The Seahawks took several shots, but Spartan goalie Ashton Scott kept KU off the board for the first 12 minutes of the quarter.
  • Keiser got its first goal of the season when Marek Albiero scored with 3:33 on the clock, with help from a Vincent Cerasuolo assist.

Second Quarter
Keiser 4, MBU 0

  • Ryan Rundle found the net unassisted with 12:20 on the board. 
  • Four minutes later, Braeden Niemy converted a man-up opportunity to put Keiser up 3-0.
  • Forty seconds after that, Albiero got his second assist of the day when he found AJ Badik for a goal. 
  • For the remaining eight minutes of the half, the Seahawks controlled the ball and kept MBU off the scoreboard.  
Third Quarter

Keiser 9, MBU 2

  • The ‘Hawks went right back to work after halftime, and Vincent Cerasuolo scored his first goal of the year unassisted with 12:55 on the clock. 
  • 90 seconds later, Missouri Baptist found the net for their first goal of the season.
  • The game was then delayed 30 minutes due to inclement weather. 
  • With 7:59 on the clock, the Spartans scored again.
  • On the ensuing faceoff, Chris Rayburn made the play of the game, quickly winning the faceoff in a man-down situation and racing all the way down the field for a goal that stifled MBU’s momentum. It was the first goal of Rayburn’s career.
  • With 4:20 showing on the clock, Kegan Hufford scored his first goal as a Seahawk. 
  • Forty seconds later, Marek Albiero found the net. 
  • With just one second left in the quarter, freshman Matt Sheehy beat the buzzer for an unassisted goal. 
Fourth Quarter

Keiser 11, MBU3

  • Lucas Green fended off four MBU shots in the opening minutes of the quarter. 
  • With 8:30 left in the game, Braeden Niemy scored with a Cerasuolo assist. 
  • Niemy scored again four minutes later, this time with a James MacGilvray assist. 
  • MBU scored the last goal of the day with 1:31 left in the contest. 

KU Highlights

  • Keiser outshot MBU 53-15. 
  • KU forced 24 total turnovers from the Spartans. 
  • Braeden Niemy logged his fourth career hat trick. 
  • Chris Rayburn went 12-16 on faceoffs. 
  • The ‘Hawks were nearly perfect on clears, going 11-12. 
  • The Seahawks picked up 27 groundballs.
