Two lightning delays, 25 goals, and a total duration of four hours and 14 minutes of time at the Multi-Purpose Field in West Palm Beach, Florida ended with the No. 1 Keiser women’s lacrosse team falling to No. 2 Cumberlands, 12-13.

First Quarter
Keiser 2, Cumberlands 4

  • Keiser opened the scoring in the contest with Melanie Brown striking less than two minutes into the game.
  • The Patriots would respond with back-to-back goals to take the 2-1 lead with 10:05 left in the first.
  • Two more goals by UC would give them a 4-1 lead with 2:31 remaining in the quarter.
  • Valeria Lomaglio would get on the board with 1:40 on the clock to cut the lead to 4-2 going into the second.

Second Quarter
Keiser 8, Cumberlands 6

  • The Seahawks would carry the momentum into the second with Talia Myers rattling off two goals in the first two minutes to tie the game at 4-4.
  • Rachel McLaughlin and Lomaglio would go back-to-back soon after to extend the KU lead to 6-4 with 10:34 showing.
  • The two sides would go back and forth into the half with Keiser’s Brown scoring the last goal with 29 seconds on the clock and the Seahawks leading 8-6.
Third Quarter

Keiser 10, Cumberlands 9

  • After a quiet opening to the quarter, Bella Ricchiazzi would net three goals in a row for Cumberlands to take the 9-8 lead with 2:58 left in the period.
  • The Seahawks would have an answer with Lomaglio completing her hat trick and tying the game at 9-9 with 2:09 on the clock.
  • Myers would score her fourth of the contest with 1:25 showing to take the lead back going into the fourth quarter.
Fourth Quarter

Keiser 12, Cumberlands 13

  • The Patriots would strike early in the fourth with two quick goals to take the 11-10 lead with 13:47 showing.
  • Cumberlands would extend their lead at the 8:24 mark to 12-10 before Lomaglio responded with her fourth goal of the game at the 7:58 mark.
  • With 5:54 on the clock, the game went into the first lightning delay that would last one hour and 18 minutes.
  • Keiser would score shortly after play resumed with McLaughlin finding the back of the net with 5:08 remaining to tie the game.
  • Ricciazzi would score her sixth of the contest with 4:08 on the clock to give the Patriots the 13-12 lead.
  • At the 3:24 mark, the second lightning delay would cause another 30-minute break before play could resume again.
  • With 33 seconds on the clock, Lomaglio put what would have been her fifth goal into the back of the net, but was called off due to a crease violation.
  • Cumberlands would get the ball back and hang on to the 13-12 win.
