Zeruto Leads No. 11 Women’s Lacrosse Past Westminster

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The 11th-ranked Embry-Riddle women’s lacrosse team registered its third 20-goal game of the season in a 23-3 defeat of Westminster (0-1), Saturday at the ERAU Lacrosse field. Saturday’s game saw five Eagle players register hattricks as the Eagles improved to 6-1 on the year.

Kenley Zeruto led all players with a career-high 10 points on four goals and six assists, finishing just one point shy of the Embry-Riddle single-game record (11). Eliana Enners also tallied four goals, while Samantha ReichAva Rogala and Callison Foreman finished with three goals apiece.

Five different players got on the scoreboard in the first 7:30 for the Eagles to give the Blue and Gold a 5-0 advantage. The Eagles bested the Griffins 16-2 in shots and won six of eight draws in the first 15 minutes to take a commanding 7-0 lead at the end of the first frame.

After Rogala’s second goal of the day, the Griffins put a point up on the scoreboard with a goal at the 8:34 mark of the second period. All five draws in the second frame went to Westminster, but the Embry-Riddle defense caused the Griffins to turn the ball over eight times and at the half, the Eagle lead was up to 10-1.

Zeruto fed Caitlin Gavin to start off a six-goal third for the Eagles. The Griffins managed two scores in the third, but they were unable to add to their tally as Embry-Riddle recorded a dominant performance in the final frame. The Eagles outshot the Griffins 10-0 and had a 7-0 advantage on the draw on the way to outscoring the visitors 7-0 in the fourth and wrapping up their sixth win of the year.

The Eagles’ next game will take them to Rome, Georgia on Wednesday for a match-up against Shorter. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
