Fighting Knights Rally Past Lee

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Freshman Elizabeth Clagett and senior Isabella Clark each accounted for four points as the 14th-ranked Lynn University women’s lacrosse team rallied from a pair of early deficits to defeat Lee University, 15-11, Wednesday afternoon. The win is the third-straight for the Fighting Knights as they sit at 5-1 overall on the spring season.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
– The Flames grabbed a 2-0 lead and later led 4-3 with 2:14 left in the first quarter
– Lynn rebounded with two goals inside the final 30 seconds of the first and two more early in the second quarter for a 7-4 cushion
– Clagett and sophomore Kristyn Johnson each scored to open the second quarter for the Fighting Knights
– Johnson and junior Sydney Hill scored at 6:07 and 5:22 showing in the second as Lynn increased its lead 10-6
– Sophomore Mallory Jarka opened the third quarter with a woman-up goal just 36 seconds into action
– The Fighting Knights collected a 3-0 run later in the third frame to help seal the victory
– Lynn outshot Lee 30-25, finished a perfect 13-for-13 on clear attempts and outpaced the Flames 12-7 on caused turnovers
 
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
– Clagett scored three goals with one assist and three caused turnovers
– Clark handed out four assists
– Jarka scored three goals, while Hill, Johnson and junior Diane Dohler each scored two goals with one assist

Fighting Knights Earn Second Win of the Day

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Lynn University women’s lacrosse team posted its second win of the day with a 15-8 defeat of Ashland, Wednesday afternoon. Earlier today, Lynn downed Lee University, 15-11, and the Fighting Knights are now 6-1 following the two victories.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
– The Fighting Knights never trailed in the game and led by as many as 10 goals early in the fourth quarter
– Lynn outshot the Eagles 28-18 and caused 13 turnovers from the visitors
– Senior Danielle Farinas scored late in the first quarter and opened the second frame with a goal to give Lynn a 4-2 lead
– Senior Bayley Tracy (7:38), freshman Elizabeth Clagett (6:31) and freshman Becca Clark (4:24) each scored for the Fighting Knights as they grabbed a 7-3 cushion at halftime
– Lynn used a 7-0 scoring outburst that covered the final 8:57 of the third quarter and the first 45 seconds of the fourth quarter as its lead swelled to 14-4
– Sophomore Kristyn Johnson started the run at 8:57, junior Lauren Dickson scored twice to close the quarter and Jarka opened the fourth with her first goal just 45 seconds into the fourth
– The Eagles narrowed their deficit to 14-8 as they scored four-straight goals over a seven-minute span in the fourth
– Farinas found Jarka for the game’s final goal with 1:42 left to set the final at 15-8
 
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
– Farinas led the Fighting Knights with two goals and two assists
– Junior Sydney Hill scored once with two assists
– Jarka, Dickson, Clagett, junior Diane Dohler, freshman Courtney Lesko and freshman Hannah Exley each finished with two points
– Graduate student Ciara Moorman made her first start in goal this season and made four saves for the victory
