FIT: Tech Breaks Program Record in Dominant Win Over Lions

MELBOURNE, Fla. – Florida Tech men’s lacrosse set a new program record this afternoon for most goals in a single game with 26. Panthers earn their second straight win at home over Emmanuel (Ga.)

FIRST QUARTER:

  • Emmanuel was first to get on the board after a Panthers turnover.
  • Tech answered back with four straight goals to take a 4-1 lead into the second period.
  • Zach Rozgonyi got the Panthers started, finding the back of the net with 10:15 to go.
  • Nick Cannetti tallied his first goal of the season on an unassisted effort.
  • Collin Stewart posted back-to-back goals to end the quarter.

SECOND QUARTER:

THIRD QUARTER:

  • C. Stewart’s third and fourth goals of the game were both man-up goals on assists from Justin Carte and P.Stewart.
  • Panthers were able to score two more before Emmanuel broke 4-0 run with 9:24 remaining. Goals by P.Stewart and Jakob Terpak.
  • Another 4-1 run would close out the period as the Panthers took a 22-5 lead into the final quarter.

FOURTH QUARTER:

  • The Lions took a 2-1 run to cut the martin 23-7 with 10:32 to go.
  • Back-to-back goals by the Stewart brothers advanced the lead 25-7 with 4:55 left.
  • Each team would tally one more before the end of the game, with Tech’s coming from Gary Lozito off an assist by Matt Josefson in the final minute and 30 seconds.

NOTABLE PANTHERS:

  • Collin Stewart led all players and tied his career-high with five goals.
  • Andrew Walenty posted a career-high four goals, with one assist, one ground ball, and two caused turnovers.
  • Patrick Stewart recorded a hat trick and two assists for a career-high five points.
  • Zach Rozgonyi finished with a hat trick, one assist, four ground balls, and one caused turnover.
  • Gary Loziti scored a career-high two goals.
  • Nine different Panthers recorded one goal.
  • Four different players tallied two assists each.
  • Walenty, Gavin Wessel, and Sam Balch posted two caused turnovers.
  • Jack Maranto went 12-18 on faceoffs with seven ground balls, while Cooper Leonard also went 12-18 on faceoffs with five ground balls.
  • Jax Francisco tallied two saves in 15 minutes in net.
  • Connor Davis saw time in net for Tech during the second and third quarters and finished with three saves and a save percentage of  .429
  • Dylan Whelan closed out the game in net for Tech recording three saves and a .500 save percentage.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:

  • Panthers finished with the edge in shots (66-28), ground balls (53-20), and faceoffs (24-13).
  • Emmanuel tallied 15 saves to Tech’s 8.
  • The Lions recorded 11 more turnovers than Tech (27-16).
  • Tech was successful on 14-of-15 clears compared to 15-of-24 for the Lions.

  • Florida Tech recorded a new single-game record for most goals in a game with 26 and tied the record for points in a game with 41.
  • Tech’s 5 man-up goals broke the previous record set in 2018 and tied in 2022.
  • C.Stewart moved up to ninth all-time in program history for career goals with 45.
  • C.Stewart’s three-man up goals tied the single-game program record set on March 9, 2013 by Andrew Conley vs Mount Olive.
  • Rozgonyi recorded his 15th career hat trick and moved up to fifth all-time in career goals with 73.
