TAMPA, Fla. – No.4 Tampa hands the undefeated Westminster (Utah) Griffins their first loss of the season. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Spartans wasted no time, with Owen Miller assisting Nick Papa‘s goal less than one minute into the matchup. The teams would trade goals back and forth, keeping the match within one goal. Behind a late goal by Alex Poma, Tampa headed into the second quarter with a two-goal lead. Andrew Milani would finish off his hat trick early in the quarter, building the Tampa lead to three goals. Tampa would go on a four-goal run, led by Canyon Birch‘s two-goal performance. Behind three straight goals, the Spartans would go into the break with a nine-goal lead.

Andrew Milani would get the Spartans started in the second half, netting back-to-back goals with assists from Charlie Bolesh and Mitchell Pfeiffer. The Spartans would continue to net goals in the fourth, with Patrick Selhorn netting the first goal of the final 15 minutes. The Griffins began to make a comeback in the fourth quarter, but it would prove too little too late.
