No. 5 Keiser Women’s Lacrosse cruised past Webber, 26-8, on senior day Saturday afternoon to finish undefeated in the Mid-South Conference South Division.

Keiser recognized their six seniors prior to the game; Valeria LomaglioHannah ReederCameron HannaLena FinkelsteinMelanie Brown, and Bridget Reddington.

First Quarter
Keiser 11, WIU 2

  • The Warriors would score the opening goal to take the early lead at the 14:18 mark.
  • Keiser would respond quickly with Talia Myers, Lomaglio, and Finkelstein scoring three goals within two minutes to give the Seahawks a 3-1 lead with 12:13 to play.
  • Following Lomaglio’s second of the game, Brown would get on the score sheet to up the KU advantage to 5-1 with 9:49 remaining.
  • The Seahawks would extend their run to 10 straight as Finkelstein, Brown, Myers, Reddington, and Rachel McLaughlin gave Keiser a 10-1 lead with 51 seconds left in the first.
  • Webber would get a goal back with 37 seconds left, but Hanna would follow it with a behind-the-back goal with 12 seconds left to give the Seahawks an 11-2 lead going into the second.

Second Quarter
Keiser 16, WIU 6

  • It was Webber who struck first in the second period, scoring just 38 seconds in to cut the lead to 11-3.
  • Madison Andrews would get on the board with 13:15 to play in the second to bring the advantage back up to 12-3. With an assist on the play, Reddington reached 100 career points.
  • The Warriors would be unfazed as they rattled off two more goals to cut the lead down to 12-5 with 11:16 left in the half.
  • The Seahawks would counter with consecutive goals by Myers and Andrews with 3:15 remaining to push the lead back up to 14-5.
  • With 2:28 showing, Webber scored their sixth goal of the contest as they tried to keep the game within reach.
  • However, Keiser would be too much, as Myers scored her fourth of the game followed by Haley Knudsen getting one for herself at the 43-second mark.
  • KU would take a 16-6 lead into the half and all the momentum at their backs.
Third Quarter

Keiser 22, WIU 6

  • The third quarter belonged solely to Keiser as they scored six unanswered in the 15-minute span.
  • McLaughlin would start it off with her second of the game followed by Andrews at the 12:27 mark.
  • Mia Dyson would join the goal-scoring party at the 8:03 mark with her 11th goal of the year to further extend the KU lead to 19-6.
  • Following Andrews’ fourth goal, Ashtyn Stoor found the back of the net for her first of the day with 2:43 left to play in the third.
  • Knudsen scored the final goal of the third to make it a 22-6 game headed to the fourth.
Fourth Quarter

Keiser 26, WIU 8

  • Myers would open the fourth quarter with her fifth of the afternoon to continue the Seahawks’ run.
  • McLaughlin and Finkelstein would net back-to-back goals to bring the score to 25-6 with 7:56 to play.
  • The Warriors would stop the run at the 6:29 mark to make it a 25-7 game.
  • With 2:49 on the clock, Reeder scored her second career goal for the Seahawks.
  • Webber scored the final goal of the game with 1:28 on the clock, but Keiser would take the 26-8 victory on Senior Day.

  • 4: Lomaglio scooped up a team-high four groundballs on the day.

High-powered offense of No. 5 Keiser too much for Warriors

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (April 16, 2022) – The Webber International University women’s lacrosse team struggled to keep up with the offensive prowess of No. 5 Keiser University, as it suffered a 26-8 defeat in its final game of the regular season.

The Warriors (6-11 overall, 1-5 MSC) started the game strong with Lauren Dombroski winning the draw and Kaitlyn Patterson scoring the first goal of the game. However, this would not bring momentum to the Warriors as they would only score one other goal by Samantha Esher in the first quarter, ending it with a score of 2-11. The Warriors would also score the first goal of the second quarter in a man-up situation from Patterson, assisted by Bryce Gerber. Webber would score two goals back-to-back by Patterson and then Esher in a man up situation. The half would conclude with one more goal from the Warriors by Gerber with a score of 6-16. After halftime, the Warriors could not find the back of the cage until the fourth quarter when Esher would feed the ball to Gerber, who would score the Warriors first goal of the second half. Dombroski would finish of the match with a goal, ending the game with an 8-26 loss.

The Warriors offense was led by Patterson with three goals with Esher and Gerber trailing behind with two each. Patterson and Dombroski led in draw controls with five a piece and Sydney Britton with two. Alexia AllenHannah Register, and Jordyn Davidson would lead in ground balls with three a piece. Allen and Register would also lead in caused turnovers with four and two respectively. Davidson and Register would split their time in goal. Davidson would spend 30 minutes defending the cage with 16 saves and Register would defend the last half with 10 saves.

Webber will now travel to Williamsburg, Kentucky to compete in the Mid-South Conference tournament. The Warriors will face University of the Cumberlands in the quarterfinals on Thursday, April 21, at 11 a.m.
