Keiser men’s lacrosse won a key AAC contest against the No. 4 University of the Cumberlands (Ky) Patriots. The Seahawks shook off an early 3-0 deficit on a cold and windy night and had a strong offensive performance to pull away in the second half. 

First Quarter
Keiser 2, UC 3

  • The Seahawks found themselves in trouble early on as the Patriots were able to build a 3-0 lead.
  • With 7:08 showing, the Seahawks got their first score of the day with a JP Prather goal. 
  •  Five minutes later, Braeden Niemy scored with a Matt Sheehy assist. 

Second Quarter
Keiser 4, UC 5

  • With 9:53 left in the second quarter, AJ Badik tied the game with an unassisted goal. 
  • Three minutes after that, Cumberlands retook the lead with a goal.
  • UC scored again one minute later.
  • The Seahawks responded again on a fastbreak situation and scored a quick goal from Ryan Rundle with a Niemy assist. 
  • The two squads locked up defensively, and each goalie fended off shots for five scoreless minutes.
  • The Seahawks trailed by one going into the halftime break. 
Third Quarter

Keiser 10, UC 6

  • Keiser was red hot coming out of the break, and Ryan Rundle converted a man-up opportunity to tie the game just forty seconds into the half.
  • One minute later, Kegan Hufford scored to give Keiser the lead.
  • With 7:52 showing, Zach Crotwell was able to find Braeden Niemy for a goal in transition.  
  •  Jackson Marshall scored unassisted with 6:08 showing on the clock.
  • Cumberlands answered with a goal with 3:51 left in the quarter. 
  • Forty seconds later, AJ Badik scored to put Keiser up by three. 
  • With under a minute left in the quarter, Badik completed a hat trick with an unassisted goal. 
Fourth Quarter

Keiser 14, UC 7

  • The Patriots scored their final goal of the game with 13:44 on the clock. 
  • Chris Rayburn won the ensuing faceoff and found Matt Sheehy for a goal. 
  • 50 seconds later, Vincent Cerasuolo capitalized on a Patriot defensive breakdown for a man-up goal. 
  • With 10:45 on the board, Sheehy scored unassisted. 
  • KU got the last goal of the day with a score from Kegan Hufford
KU Highlights
  • Keiser outshot UC 52-35. 
  • KU caused five Patriot turnovers.  
  • Chris Rayburn went 17-24 on faceoffs. 
  • The Seahawks went 14-19 on clears. 
  • Keiser picked up 33 groundballs.
  • The Seahawks have now won twelve consecutive games. 
  • The Patriots went 0-4 on extra man opportunities.
