No. 6 Women’s Lacrosse Heads to Savannah, Ga. for NAIA National Championship Tournament

No. 6 Keiser women’s lacrosse will make the trip up to Savannah, Ga. for their fourth straight NAIA National Championship Tournament appearance on Wednesday, May 1. The Seahawks will be the seventh seed in the tournament and face No. 2 University of the Cumberlands. The opening draw control from Memorial Field is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.

  • The Seahawks and Patriots have played a total of eight times.
  • Cumberlands leads the all-time series 5-3 over Keiser.
  • The most recent matchup was played earlier this season where the Patriots came out victorious.
  • KU has won three of the last five matchups between the two teams.
  • Wednesday will be the fifth time that the two sides are meeting in postseason play with Keiser leading the postseason series 3-1.

  • Keiser heads to their fourth consecutive NAIA Women’s Lacrosse National Championship Tournament with an 11-7 overall record.
  • The Seahawks have made NAIA postseason tournament in six consecutive seasons including the National Invitational Tournaments in 2018 and 2019.
  • Keiser is 5-3 all-time at nationals with a 3-2 record in the quarterfinals.
  • The last time that the NAIA National Tournament was held in Savannah, the Seahawks completed their 2021 undefeated season with a 13-11 win over Cumberlands in the championship game.
  • Madison Andrews and Sydney Passaro both started that game with Andrews tallying four goals and one assist to lead the Seahawks.
  • Haley KnudsenSydney Parker, and Jasmine Sidawi also contributed to the team’s success that year along with now assistant coach Alexis Martinez (then Alexis Bernath).
  • Coming into the tournament, Keiser is averaging 15.06 goals per game on the season and 19.60 in their last five games.
  • Chloe Foley is leading the way on the offensive end with 36 goals this year.
  • Leading in points and assists is Madison Andrews who is up to 22 goals, 27 assists, and 49 points after missing the first four games of the season.
  • The Seahawks have plenty of options on offense with six players totaling more than 30 goals, seven with more than 10 assists, and six with over 30 points.
  • As a team, Keiser ranks third in the NAIA in assists this season with 160.
  • KU also ranks highly on the defensive side of the ball with 311 caused turnovers which tops the NAIA ranks and the Keiser record books.
  • Once again, it is a team effort, as 11 players have registered at least 15 caused turnovers this season.
  • Milena Isturiz leads the defense with 41 on the year with Sidawi, Foley, and Parker following in the 20’s.
  • Margaret Wroe has seen the majority of time in cage for Keiser with 118 saves this season.
  • Cumberlands boasts an 18-2 record this year with their only two losses coming against No. 1 Reinhardt.
  • The Patriots lead the NAIA in games played, goals, and assists, with eight players scoring more than 40 points this season.
  • Emma Rittman broke the NAIA record for draw controls in a season with 171 on the year.
  • The winner of Wednesday’s game will play the winner of No. 3 Lawrence Tech vs. No. 6 Benedictine, which will take place a few hours prior.
  • The NAIA National Championship will take place on Saturday, May 4, at 1:00 p.m. at the Memorial Field in Savannah, Ga.
