PBA Men’s Lacrosse Rolls Senators 22-5

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic men’s lacrosse team won in dominant fashion over the Davis & Elkins Senators 22-5. PBA moved to 1-0 all-time against the Senators. 

PBA displayed offensive versatility with 10 different goal scorers. Henry Sloyan scored five goals, one short of his career high. Hunter Lizza notched his first career hat trick with four goals. Additionally, PBA freshman Sarver Adams earned his first hat trick and Caleb Southard scored three goals. Jonah Robertson pumped in two goals which brought his season total to four. Blake RowseTanner PohlWilliam SantellaKeegan Southard, and Joshua Turner scored one goal each. 12 of the 22 Sailfish goals were assisted.

PBA controlled the faceoff x. The Sailfish took 24/30 faceoffs. Noah McKoeun went 9-11, Brooks Andrus took 8-10, and Refugio Perez won 7-9 faceoffs. PBA outshot Davis & Elkins 75-22. The Sailfish committed two fewer turnovers and picked up 27 more ground balls than the Senators. The ‘Fish capitalized on Senators penalties as they converted on 3-5 man-up opportunities. 

Sloyan scored the first four PBA goals in the first quarter. The all-time leading goal scorer in PBA history leads the team in goals with 13 this season. Logan Robbins found Santella in transition for PBA’s fifth goal. Santella ripped his first career goal with 5:08 left in the first quarter. Neil Calkin capitalized on an extra man opportunity when he connected with Southard for PBA’s sixth goal. Calkin finished the game with three assists. Lizza scored two consecutive goals in the final 1:03 in the first quarter before Ty Wright assisted Southard with six seconds left. PBA led 9-1 after the first. 

Turner distributed a pass inside to Lizza with 4:05 left in the first half. Turner concluded the game with one goal and two assists. Robertson launched a shot with 3:30 left in the first half for PBA’s 11th goal. PBA was up 11-2 at halftime. The ‘Fish caused more turnovers and ripped 11 more goals in the second half. PBA went on an 8-1 run in the third quarter. With 9:33 in the third quarter, PBA defender Dylan Hunt passed for his first assist to Robertson. A freshman-to-freshman connection was the result of PBA’s 17th goal. With 3:05 left in the third quarter, Cooper Porter connected with  Adams for his second goal of the game. Porter distributed two assists during the contest. Pohl scored his first career goal with 9:43 left in the fourth quarter. With 3:09 left in the game Sloyan capped off the scoring party with his fifth and final goal. 

Defensively, Hunt caused two turnovers and picked up three ground balls. Pohl caused two turnovers, and Santella caused two turnovers with five ground balls. Ben Lightsey started in net for the ‘Fish and made three saves. Additionally, Nicholas Conklin made his third appearance of the season and played in the second half. Conklin recorded three saves.
