The Lions Finish On Top in Battle Versus #17 Seton Hill 13-11

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The #20 Saint Leo women’s lacrosse team takes down #17 Seton Hill in a 13-11 battle.

The Lions now move to 4-0 after a tough fought game against the Griffins.

In the first quarter, Sophomore Delaney Gilchrist got Saint Leo going with the first goal of the game during a free position attempt.

Saint Leo went into the second quarter with a 5-2 lead and all the momentum heading into the second quarter.

Seton Hill fought back outscoring the Lions 4-3 in the second quarter bringing the deficit down.

Saint Leo went into halftime with an 8-6 lead.

Junior Fiona McLaughlin stopped the Lions mini scoring drought in the third quarter six minutes in to give the Lions another extension on the lead after the Griffins had pulled within one.

The Lions headed into the fourth quarter with an 11-9 lead over the Griffins.

The fourth quarter was kickstarted once again by Gilchrist who came up with the goal less than a minute in to give the Lions a three goal cushion in the fourth.

The Saint Leo defense kept Seton Hill from scoring enough to come back and the Lions finished on top with a final score of 13-11.

Fiona McLaughlin finished as the leading scorer with four goals along with an assist.

Freshman Goalkeeper Jessica Harclerode had a fantastic game in net finishing with 12 saves and improves to 4-0 on the season.

Up next, the Lions will go on the road to Alabama Huntsville on March 10th. The draw is scheduled for 7:00pm.
