SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo University men’s lacrosse head coach Brad Jorgensen has announced a promotion for his longtime assistant coach. Chad Marino has been promoted to Associate Head Coach for men’s lacrosse. Marino has been on Jorgensen’s staff for the past three years following a four-year career in the Green & Gold (2013-2016).
“I would first like to thank Coach Jorgensen for this recognition, and opportunity,” said Marino. “I am very grateful for everything I have experienced in my first three seasons as an Assistant Coach. I couldn’t be more excited to keep building this program, that as an alum, I have so much pride in. There is such a bright future for this team, and I can’t wait to keep working and growing as a group.”
Marino’s offensive mindedness helped lead the efforts to recruit Greg Palmer, the 2023 SSC Freshman of the Year.
Coach Jorgensen originally recruited Marino out of Mt. Sinai, NY. and his familiarity was key to strengthening the recruiting efforts in the Long Island area.
Marino was a four-year member of the Lions from 2013 to 2016. In four years, he scored 46 goals and tallied 32 assists and picked up 27 ground balls while causing nine turnovers. He was twice named to the All-SSC, earning second team honors as a junior and first team honors as a senior.
“Chad is a critical piece of Saint Leo Lacrosse,” said Jorgensen. “His attention to detail, countless hours of individual work with our players, and ability to recruit are irreplaceable. This promotion accurately reflects his impact on our program and our student-athletes.”
Since 2022, the Lions have compiled a 24-21 record and have earned 13 All-SSC selections highlighted by Palmer being named the 2023 SSC Freshman of the Year. Saint Leo has also had two All-American selections, both in 2024.
