Saint Leo Men Shy of Potential Upset over #6 Limestone

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo University Men’s lacrosse team began the 2023 season with a strong start, going toe-to-toe with #6 Limestone.  Late goals by the Saints doomed the Lions in the end, falling 17-15 Saturday afternoon at University Turf Stadium.
 
The Lions (0-1) nearly pulled off an upset for the ages, as there were five lead changes throughout the contest.  The Saints ended the day outshooting the Lions 59-40.
 
Senior Justin Williams led the Green & Gold with five goals, with seven of his ten shots landing on goal.  Goalkeeper Chase Strait recorded 17 saves on the day.
 
Saint Leo hits the road Friday as the team heads to Huntsville, Ala. to face the University of Alabama-Huntsville Chargers.
