SGR: Ponte Vedra Girls Early Season Recap

Thanks for sending it in! Use our Submit Game Recap feature for competitive games!

The Ponte Vedra girls lacrosse team began their season with a competitive schedule. An exciting 16-15 one goal win over a well coached Lake Mary of Orlando. Excellent individual performances from PV junior middies Anna Taraboletti (7 goals, 5 draw controls) and Lily Darnell (2 goals, 6 draw controls). Sisters Lily and Lamb Toole also contributed 2 goals a piece.

Next up for PV was Wolfson High School, a solid victory for the PV Sharks. The first loss of the season was suffered at the hands of Lassiter High School out of Georgia. In that game, Ava LaManna turned in a great first half effort at goalkeeper with outstanding saves but was unable to ignite the rest of the team in a 5-11 loss.

However, the Sharks rebounded over the weekend as they traveled to Orlando for a second time to play a strong Bishop Moore squad. Senior defender captain Sarah James led the team with solid 1v1 defense and continuous successful transitions. Goalie Ava LaManna produced excellent key saves throughout the game. Ponte Vedra compiled 11 caused turnovers, 8 draw controls, 9 knock downs and 3 interceptions with the goal scoring led by Anna Taraboletti, Lily Darnell and Lily Toole. A great team effort lead to a 9-5 road victory.

Please come out and cheer on the Ponte Vedra Shark team this week at Nease on Tuesday, March 1st and at home against Gulf Breeze on Saturday, March 5th.
