TAMPA, Fla. – The No.3 University of Tampa lacrosse team finish out the regular season going undefeated.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

First Quarter: The first few minutes of the game was tough for each team as they struggled to score. That scoring drought ended with Tampa getting on the board first with goals by Gia Colombo and Sarah Hinkle. Lynn comes back to score with 6:38 left capitalizing off a Tampa turnover. This didn’t stop Tampa as they scored five more times before the end of the quarter. Sarah Hinkle was on fire as she earned an early hattrick. The goals for the Spartans were scored as follows:

8:35 – Sarah Hinkle, assisted by Lizzie Pierpont

Second Quarter: Tampa continued their streak starting the quarter scoring two more times. These goals forced Lynn to take a timeout. McGettigan grabs her third assists of the game with an assist to Emma McLoughlin. Lynn sneaks in their second goal of the afternoon after three straight goals from Tampa. Before the closing of the quarter, Tampa scores two more times. The Spartan goals headed into halftime were scored as follows:

Third Quarter: Tampa started off hot with a goal by Hinkle. The ball kept rolling as they scored three more times before Lynn scored their forth goal of the day. The Spartans goals were scored as follows:

Fourth Quarter: Lynn changed the direction of the game scoring the first goal of the quarter. The pace of the game slowed down where Tampa took control before scoring in the last seconds of the game. The Spartan goals for the fourth quarter were scored as follows:

Women’s Lacrosse Drops Season Finale at No. 3 Tampa

TAMPA, Fla. – Senior Isabella Clark scored two goals as the Lynn University women’s lacrosse team had its 2023 season come to a close with a 19-5 defeat at No. 3 Tampa, Saturday. The Fighting Knights finish the season at 12-6 overall and ranked 16th in the nation.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
– Tampa outscored Lynn 14-2 in the first half and held a 5-3 scoring advantage over the final 30 minutes
– The Spartans outshot the Fighting Knights 33-21, held a 27-23 edge in ground balls and won 20-of-25 draw controls
– Clark scored first for Lynn with 6:38 showing in the first quarter that narrowed the Lynn deficit to 2-1
– Sophomore Kristyn Johnson was credited with an assist on Clark’s goal
– Tampa rattled off 10-straight goals for a 12-1 lead with 5:53 left in the first half
– Freshman Hannah Exley scored off a feed from senior Danielle Farinas as Lynn made the score 12-2 at 3:50
– Tampa scored four more goals until freshman Elizabeth Clagett scored midway through the third quarter to pull the Fighting Knights to within 16-3
– Junior Lauren Dickson closed the third-quarter scoring with a goal that made the score 18-4
– The two schools exchanged fourth-quarter goals and Clark closed the afternoon with a late goal to set the final at 19-5
 
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
– Clark powered Lynn’s offense with her two goals
– Clagett scored once and caused four turnovers
– Freshman Becca Clark and Johnson each had two draw controls
– Graduate student Ciara Moorman posted seven saves in the loss
