DELAND, Fla. – Stetson University’s Director of Athletics Jeff Altier announced a leadership change for the women’s lacrosse program on Monday as current Head Coach Christy Leach and the department of athletics have agreed to mutually part ways.
“I am so thankful to have been the head coach of this program for the past ten years. During this time, we accomplished many goals, had a lot of fun together, and made great strides in growing one of the three current Division I programs in Florida. Right now, personally, it is time for a change. While change is hard on many levels, I am looking forward to new opportunities and more time with my family, including my 3 children and all of their activities and adventures. I believe in the future of this program, and I will always support these amazing women who have played for me and who carry on our traditions,” stated Leach.
Over the last ten years, Leach has coached 22 ASUN All-Conference team players as well as 11 ASUN All-Freshman team, while competing in the ASUN Tournament four times.
This season, she produced one of the best statistical seasons in program history. Senior attacker Jordyn Humphrey is currently #1 in the NCAA Division I in points & #3 in points per game. She has a program record 89 points this year – including a program single season record of 55 goals to go along with 34 assists. The 2024 team has been ranked in the top 10 in the NCAA throughout the season in many categories including points, points per game, assists, assists per game, shots, shots on goal per game, draw controls per game, caused turnovers per game and boasting a top 20 scoring offense.
“I want to thank Christy Leach for her leadership and commitment to Stetson University over the past 10 years. She has guided the development and integration of our team into the highly competitive ASUN Conference. We are thankful for Christy, her accomplishments and dedication to the team and Stetson athletics. A national search for her replacement will begin immediately,” said Director of Athletics Jeff Altier.
