Sweet 16 – Win Four To Score – The TCWC Semifinals

First, the predictions from last week . . .   That makes the second round look like:   Benjamin vs MCC Canterbury vs Barron Collier   First of all, how come NO ONE caught the mistake, including me?  I predicted Merritt Island would upset MCC yet left MCC slotted here . . . oops.   Have my back readers! And Canterbury was supplanted by Riverview-Sarasota so now I’m only 11 for 12.   Hate to say it but I don’t see either game coming down to the wire   Benjamin Travels to Merritt Island   Nothing Merritt Island did this year will prepare them for what they are facing now.  The record is wonderful at 18-3 but their best win was likely their last one, the first round win at MCC.  The best team on their schedule was Hagerty and they lost that one comfortably. Benjamin has wins over LHP, Jupiter twice and St. Edward’s twice.  With the return of Will Nicklaus to join the offense this is a BIG, seasoned offense that can score on anyone.  The defense has stayed strong, partly because they are not playing long on defense right now.   Prediction:  Merritt Island’s breakthrough year comes to a close in a 14-6 loss to Benjamin   Barron Collier Travels to Riverview-Sarasota   Another two teams that really surprised this year face off up north.  Riverview has reached the Sweet 16 in their first year of varsity, a remarkable achievement.  Where Riverview falls down a little is that they really didn’t have a big signature win against the teams that Barron Collier did beat.  And BC does hold a 9-goal win over Riverview early in the year.  Their best result might well have been the 1-goal loss to Maclay. Barron is 18-1 on the season and has scored at least 12 goals in 17 of those.  They have wins over Belen, Tampa Jesuit, Boca Raton and Gulliver Prep.  They should be able to handle this.   Prediction:  Barron Collier pulls away in the second half for a 15-8 win over Riverview-Sarasota
