TAMPA, FL. – The No. 2 ranked University of Tampa Spartans men’s lacrosse would complete the 2nd half comeback against the No. 18 ranked Lindenwood University.

Final: No. 2 Tampa 11, No. 18 Lindenwood 8

Records: Tampa Spartans (5-0), Lindenwood Lions (2-2)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

FIRST QUARTER

Tampa would start off slow to start the first quarter, Lindenwood would get things started off within one minute into the quarter with a goal. A ground ball pickup by the Spartans would lead to another turnover from Tampa. Leading to Lindenwoods second goal of the quarter, Tampa could not find any luck finding the back of the net this quarter. 

Score: 2-0 Lindenwood

SECOND QUARTER

Early in the second, things would continue to go the Lions way, not wasting any of their momentum as they would increase the lead to 4 with just over 11 minutes remaining in the quarter. Owen Miller would get Tampa on the board for the first time in the game. Not long after, Lindeonwood would increase the lead once again. Tampa would get the ball rolling as Charlie Bolesh would start a run that resulted in three unanswered goals to end the half for Tampa.

THIRD QUARTER

Tampa would come out of halftime guns blazing. Luke McAnaney and Hunter Turner would score 20 seconds apart to put Tampa into the lead for the first time, followed by a rocket of a goal from Nick Papa with the assist from Colin White. The Spartans would tack on two more before the end of the quarter from Miller and McAnaney.

Score: 9-6 Tampa

FOURTH QUARTER

Both teams would go back and forth in an evenly matched fourth and final quarter. Lindenwood would capitalize off of a Spartans turnover to start things off, until a White goal would put Tampa back on track. Another White goal would seal the deal for the Spartans as Lindenwood would not have enough to make a late comeback.
