SPARKS, Md. — US Lacrosse and head coach Nick Myers have named the staff for the 2020 U.S. Men’s U19 Team. The staff is charged with preparing the team for the 2020 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) Men’s U19 World Championship in Limerick, Ireland.
Named as assistant coaches were Pat Myers, Stan Ross and Andrew Stimmel. Tony Resch will serve as the assistant manager, Brett Emerine will be the team’s equipment manager and Ryan Davis will be the videographer.
“The US Lacrosse National Teams Committee has selected an incredible coaching and support staff to lead Team USA in pursuit of its ninth FIL U19 World Championship,” said Nick Myers, who is also the head coach at Ohio State. “We look forward to the responsibility of representing the red, white and blue and creating a remarkable experience for all the young men that are chosen to be a part of the national team process. This staff represents a blend of both college and high school coaches with brilliant minds for the game and a selfless attitude. We are all looking forward to getting the ball rolling with our first training camp in June 2019.”
The staff selections were made by the Coach Selection Subcommittee of the US Lacrosse High Performance Committee, consisting of:

Applications for interested players that meet FIL age and citizenship requirements will open this spring. A committee of NCAA Division I coaches representing all conferences, US Lacrosse staff, U.S. team coaches, media sources focused on recruiting and regional high school coaches will rank applicants based on position. From those rankings, approximately 100 players will be invited to the first training camp in June.
Pat Myers, entering his first year as the head coach at Lafayette, was an assistant coach on the 2016 U.S. team staff which beat Canada in a dramatic world championship game in Coquitlam, British Columbia. A graduate of Ohio State, Myers came to Lafayette after four seasons as the associate head coach at Penn. He previously coached at North Carolina, Bucknell, Cornell and Ohio State.
Ross has been the head coach at Oxbridge Academy (Fla.) for the past seven years, starting the program from scratch and building it into one of the top high school programs in the state. A graduate of Loyola, he also has experience coaching at the professional and collegiate levels — serving as a head coach for the Florida Launch of Major League Lacrosse and at Butler. He was an assistant coach at Navy, Towson, Princeton, Denver and Loyola.
Stimmel, a former captain at Ohio State, helped Yale win its first NCAA championship last spring serving as the team’s offensive coordinator. He joined the Yale staff for the 2014 season and coached the Bulldogs for two seasons before serving as the defensive coordinator at Marquette in 2016, helping the Golden Eagles win the Big East. He returned to Yale in 2017 as the offensive coordinator. He previously served as the head coach at Grove City College.
Resch, the associate head coach at LaSalle College (Pa.) High School, has a deep connection to the U.S. National Team Program, most recently serving as an assistant coach for the 2018 U.S. men’s senior team which won gold in Israel. A two-time All-American at Yale, he was a player on the 1990 U.S. team, an assistant coach on the 2010 U.S. men’s senior team and head coach of the 2015 U.S. indoor team. As a head coach, he was won four National Lacrosse League titles with the Philadelphia Wings and two Major League Lacrosse titles with the Philadelphia Barrage.
Emerine is in his first year as an equipment manager at Ohio State. The Ohio State grad previously served in equipment roles with the Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions and Jacksonville Jaguars.
Davis is currently studying for his Master’s degree at Canisius, where he works in digital media for the Golden Griffin Broadcast Network. He’s a graduate of Western Michigan, where he worked on the football video crew.
The U.S. men’s national team trains and plays using best-in class products provided by Nike (apparel and footwear), Cascade (helmets), STX (equipment), Warrior (equipment), SISU Guard (mouthguards), The Pearl by Guardian (balls) and DJO (sports braces).
