Webber Warriors Men Blank Spires 28-0 in Dominant Fashion

Babson Park, FL – The Webber International Men’s Lacrosse team hosted the University of Saint Mary Spires Saturday afternoon on the Warrior Turf Field. The Warriors dominated the Spires, taking a total of 64 shots to take down the Spires 28-0. 

Riley Graves drew that start in goal for the Warriors while Beau Masters stepped into the faceoff circle. Masters won the opening faceoff and Chase JacksonChristian Tapia, and Houston Finlayson all immediately ripped shots at the Spires goalie. Dillon Ziemba would be the first with a house call, starting off with the first goal and the Warriors went running. Jackson scored soon after to make it 2-0. Finlayson would finally find the net with an assist from Tapia. Jacob Trickler had the next goal for Webber. Jeremiah Loo had the next two goals, with assists from Jackson and Nick SheafferSteven Landsman and Kye McCarron had the next two goals, with Jackson assisting Landsman. Loo got on the board one more time with an assist from Jackson, and Sheaffer scored as Webber finished the first quarter up 10-0. 

Loo scored to start the second quarter, with Sheaffer assisting him again. Connor Herring scored next off an assist from Dane Fasano. Ziemba scored again with another assist from Jackson, before Blake Nelson scored with an assist from Tapia. Jackson, Masters, and Daniel McClure had the next three goals for the Warriors to make it 17-0. Ziemba scored again on the Warriors lone Man-up opportunity, before Sam Shields scored the final goal of the half of a pass from Masters to make it 19-0. 

Finlayson and Herring scored early in the third quarter. Sheaffer would find the back of the net halfway through the quarter, before Malachi LaRue did as well. McClure, Benjamin Sheldon, and Zachary Cordero scored the final three goals of the quarter as Webber headed to the fourth up 26-0.  

Nathan Parker scored for Webber in the fourth quarter making it 27-0. Cordero would have the final goal of the game as the Warriors blanked the Spires in dominant fashion 28-0. 

Jackson led the team with six points, off two goals and four assists. Loo and Sheaffer both had four points, with Loo’s all coming from goals, and Sheaffer’s coming from two goals and two assists. Defensively, LaRue and Alan Basic each had seven ground balls, while Masters had five. Jerrin Spann led with three caused turnovers, while Sheldon and Tapia had two apiece. In the net, Graves was credited with the win while Greyson McQuaig had one save and Adison Hommel had three. 

The Warriors will be back in action on Tuesday, March 5th when the host NCAA Division 3 opponent Wentworth Tech at 2 PM on the Warrior Turf Field.
