BABSON PARK, Fla. (March 10, 2022) – A big second half would fuel the Webber International University women’s lacrosse team to an emphatic 21-7 victory over the Bulldogs of Tennessee Wesleyan University, Thursday afternoon on the Warrior Turf Field.

The Warriors (5-4 overall) returned to home turf following two victories on the road. The Warriors outshot the Bulldogs in the game, 41-16, and forced the opposition into a total of 29 turnovers.

Tennessee Wesleyan would strike first in the game less than a minute into the first quarter. Roughly two minutes later, Webber would equalize thanks to a solo goal from Kaitlyn Patterson. That is, however, the last time that the Bulldogs would lead as the Warriors would score four-straight goals over the next three and a half minutes to take a 5-2 lead. Those four goals included two man-down goals from Courtnie Couch and Samantha Esher followed by a goal from Natalie Baumgarten and another from Patterson. The Bulldogs would score once more in the first quarter before the Warriors would end the quarter with four more goals over the final four and a half minutes.

Couch would score the first goal of the second quarter, earning her third hat-trick of the season so far. The Warriors would score twice more in the second quarter to extend the lead to eight. However, the Bulldogs would grab two goals in the final two minutes of the half to pull back within six at 12-6 heading into halftime. Tennessee Wesleyan would score the first goal of the second half to reduce the deficit to five, but that is as close as they would come in the game. The Warriors would then score four goals in the remaining eight minutes of the third quarter, three of which came from Patterson. In the fourth quarter, Webber would add five more goals to cruise to a 21-7 victory.

The Warriors were led by Patterson and Couch who each had five goals on the day. They were followed by Sydney Britton with three goals and an assist, totaling four points, and Esher who finished with two goals and two assists. Maria Horrell and Baumgarten both added two goals as well.
