Warriors Trounce Skyhawks to Advance to AAC Semifinals
Babson Park, FL – The Webber International Men’s Lacrosse team hosted the Point Skyhawks in the AAC Tournament Saturday afternoon. After a quick start, the Warriors ballooned their lead, taking down the Skyhawks 21-6.
Christian Tapia scored the first two goals for the Warriors, as Webber and Point went back and forth to start making it 2-2. Jeremiah Loo would notch his first goal of the game before Chase Jackson got his first on the next possession. Loo got another before the end of the quarter with Webber taking a 5-2 lead.
Nick Sheaffer got his afternoon going with the first goal of the second quarter. Tapia scored again before Sheaffer made his second goal of the quarter. Loo scored the next two for the Warriors, making it 10-2 halfway through the quarter. Blake Nelson and Sheaffer combined for two more goals before Joshua Cargile took the face-off and raced down sinking his shot to make it 13-2. Daniel McClure and Kye McCarron scored the final two goals of the half with Webber leading 15-2.
The Warriors were shutout the first half of the third quarter, but Jackson and Loo soon each found the net, making it 17-2. Alex West and Sam Shields each found paydirt with Point getting one back as Webber headed to the fourth up 19-3.
The Skyhawks scored twice to make it 19-5 early in the fourth. Zachary Cordero scored the final two goals for the Warriors as they took down the Skyhawks 21-6.
Loo led the team with five points, all from goals. Jackson, Tapia, and Sheaffer each had four points, with Jackson splitting two and two, while Tapia and Sheaffer each had three goals and one assist. Cargile led the team with six ground balls, whole Tay’Quan Bryan, Greyson Davidson, and Malachi LaRue, all picked up three. Dane Fasano led the team with five caused turnovers, while Jack Polomsky had three. In the goal, Ryan Prylinksi and Adison Hommel each had four saves, while Riley Graves had two, and Liam Murphy had 1.
The Warriors will be back in action on Friday, April 26th when they travel to Marietta, Georgia to play the AAC #2 seed Keiser University.
