Week 12 Preview: Florida Launch Return Home, Ready for Bayhawks

via the Launch web site   With the 2017 Major League Lacrosse All-Star Game in the books, the Florida Launch are rested and ready for action this weekend. Taking on the Chesapeake Bayhawks in their first meeting this season, the Launch, currently tied for third place, return to FAU Stadium this Saturday, July 15 at 7 p.m. The Launch are in search of a franchise record six wins this weekend as they host the Bayhawks. The offense will be pivotal in the game as Kieran McArdle, the Launch’s current points leader with 24, looks to rebound from a scoreless outing in Florida’s last outing against the Atlanta Blaze. This game also marks the first meeting between the Launch and former player Lyle Thompson since he was traded to the Bayhawks in the off-season. On the other side of the ball, goalie Austin Kaut and defenseman Tucker Durkin continue to lead the defense. Kaut has turned in one impressive performance after another on his way to being the league’s current leader in saves (187) and save percentage (.581). Launch coach Tom Mariano took to Lax Sports Network to tout Durkin’s defensive skills. “If you look at individual play, Tucker Durkin has given up maybe two goals the whole year where someone actually beats him for a goal,” Mariano told LSN. At halftime of the game, the Launch will honor lacrosse legend Casey Powell by retiring his No. 22. Powell played his last three MLL seasons with the Launch, earning MLL Most Valuable Player honors in the Launch’s inaugural season in 2014. The Launch are facing a double-header next week with games against the Bayhawks on Thursday, July 20 and the Charlotte Hounds on Saturday, July 22.
