thanks to Olivia Coiro, Assistant Sports Information Director – Lynn University for the press release   BOCA RATON, Fla.- Lynn University’s lacrosse team’s longest win streak in program history, of four games, was snapped in a 16-4 loss to No. 11 Mount Olive (9-2) on Saturday night at Bobby Campbell Stadium. Lynn (7-3) was led by junior Anthony Rainone who scored all four of the Fighting Knights goals for his 10^th-consecutive game with a hat trick. Jake Duarte put the Spartans on the board first with an unassisted goal two and a half minutes into play. Rainone notched his first goal of the game, unassisted, at 8:14 to tie the game at 1-all. The Lynnbrook, N.Y., native tallied his second goal four minutes later for a 2-1 Blue & White lead. Stephen Bowlan scored with 34 seconds remaining in the opening frame to once again tie the game but Rainone found his way past Mount Olive’s keeper Ross Bowman to give the Fighting Knights a 3-2 lead heading into the second quarter. Two goals by UMO in the first five minutes of the half put the Spartans ahead 4-3 but Rainone logged his fourth goal on an assist from Jacob Van Leenen at 8:58 to tie the game at 4-all. Three more goals by the visitors found Lynn in a three goal deficit, 7-4, at halftime. Mount Olive’s defense was impressive in the second half, holding the Blue & White scoreless through the final 30 minutes of play. The Spartans scored four goals in the third quarter for an 11-4 lead. Head coach Brian Kingsbury turned to back-up goalkeeper Nick Nehring in the fourth quarter after Taylor Ferrino saw time in between the pipes in the first three quarters making 11 saves. The fourth quarter saw five more goals for Mount Olive as the 11^th-ranked Spartans earned the 16-4 win. Nehring allowed five goals but made five saves in his 15 minutes of work. Mount Olive outshot Lynn 44-19 in the game and won 17-of-21 face-offs. The Fighting Knights were successful on 16-of-20 clears and caused 16 UMO turnovers. The Fighting Knights will return to action on Friday, April 3, at Bobby Campbell Stadium when they host #13 Florida Tech in Sunshine State Conference action.
