The Wekiva Mustangs were host to the Lake Brantley Patriots on Friday night in district play on their home field. Brantley took charge of the game and kept control leaving the Mustang with few opportunities to get their offense rolling. Wekiva standout Jasper Pickels scored the Mustang’s only goal in the first half with 1:57 in the second quarter. At half time the score was 5 / 1 Brantley. In the second half Brantley retained control of the ball. Wekiva did take advantage of their possessions with RT Rogers scoring in the third quarter and Jessee Ormond scoring in the fourth quarter. Wekiva’s possessions were acquired by strong defensive play by Adam Brathwaite who brought the ball down the field several times. Wekiva’s star of the evening was their goal keeper Dustin Stanley with 19 saves. Stanley took on several three shot montes with no goal scored and a wicked outside heater to the body that was heard in the stands. Brantley’s scorers were Ryan Crowley with 3 goals, Jared Bernhardt with 2 goals and 2 assists and Austin Guerrina with 2 goals and 1 assist. The final score Brantley 10 Wekiva 3.
