Barron Collier continued it’s campaign against high end, out-of-state competition on Tuesday, traveling to Clearwater to take on the Flint Hill Huskies (DC ISL AA). Predicted to lose by 10, the Cougars instead won by 4, jumping out to a quick 3-0 lead and never looked back. As a defining end note after several minutes of stall, BC quickly put down three in the last 1:08 to finish 12-8. Barron Collier is now 11-2. Leading scorers included: Claudia Lenart (5g), Olivia Ferrucci (3g/3a), Kacie Frost (2g), Kaitlyn Dooley (2g), Amy Tillotson (1a). Strong play in midfield transition included Melanie Guitard and Giovanna Imbriani (1 int), and numerous clutch ground balls and transition clears from Anna Browne, Emily Franklin and Sierra Luciano. Strong performance in goal by senior Jessica MacClugage kept the Huskies at bay with a number of free position and close-in saves. Barron Collier continues it’s spring break road trip series on Thursday and Saturday with games against Stone Ridge CDS and Friends Central in St. Petersburg.
