College lacrosse powerhouses University of Miami and Palm Beach Atlantic University will square-off in the 2nd Annual Martin County High School College Challenge. The match will take place at Martin County High School’s lacrosse field on Saturday, Feb. 23. The game between UM and PBAU will start at 5 p.m., but will be preceded by a lacrosse clinic for area youths conducted by players from both college squads. The clinic will start at 1 p.m. and conclude at 3 p.m. Lacrosse players from all youth leagues are invited to participate, but they must come in full uniform. At 3 p.m., the Martin County High School and South Fork High School boy’s lacrosse teams will renew their rivalry. Their match will be followed by the UM-PBAU game. In addition to the clinic, the afternoon will feature a Hot Shot contest to determine who’s got the fastest lacrosse shot among youth league players. The top three Hot Shots in each age bracket will square-off at halftime of the UM-PBAU match to determine the Hot Shot in each bracket. Tickets for this afternoon of top-tier lacrosse action can be purchased at www.mchslax.com or at the gate on game day. Tickets are $10 for the event and $5 for the clinic. All proceeds benefit the MCHS fundraising program.
