A beautiful evening at Jack Taylor Stadium for a great game of lacrosse. The Fletcher Senators put up a decent fight hosting the St. Augustine Yellowjackets, but lost 4 to 8.
The St. Augustine rally started in the first quarter just seven minutes into the game when Yellow Jacket Jordan King scored. After two more St Augustine goals, Fletcher’s Wesley Boyd answered with a bullet into the net from close range.
After another St Augustine score (the second for Mateo Trumble) Fletcher’s Graham Van made a shot that got deflected into the goal.
It was 2 to 5 at halftime. Fletcher showed some promise, playing strong defense throughout the remainder of the game. The Senators fought hard and goalie Patrick Wendell made 12 saves. However, St. Augustine did a good job of matching goals and running out the clock to preserve their lead.
Fletcher travels to Bishop Snyder @ 6pm on Tuesday.
