All Saints Academy Defeats Durant High 9-5

  The Cougars of Durant High School traveled to Winter Haven, Florida to take on All Saints Academy under the lights, Friday night, March 6, 2015. The Saints pushed out to an early 5-1 lead in the first quarter to hold on for a 9-5 win and improve to 7-0 for the season. The Saints were able to dominate the time of possession in the first quarter that resulted in 5-1 lead. All Saints senior midfielder Dylan Methot scored the first goal of the game followed by goals from Zach Wilson and Hunter Bennett also for All Saints. Durant answered with the first goal of the game to close the gap at 3-1. The Saints answered with back to back goals from Hunter Bennett and Stuart Skipper to end the first quarter at 5-1. The Saints opened the second quarter with another goal from Hunter Bennett with the assist from Zach Wilson and a goal from Shaun Slachta with another assist from Zach Wilson, to push the lead to 7-1. Durant scored just before the half as the halftime score was 7-2. The Cougars scored first in the third quarter, which was promptly answered by two goals, one each from Zach Wilson and Hunter Bennett to push the lead to 9-3. The Cougars scored two more goals to close out the third at 9-5. The fourth quarter was mired in penalties as both teams struggled offensively as the game ended 9-5. Hunter Bennett led the Saints in scoring with 4 goals; Zach Wilson led the Saints in assists with 2 and 2 goals. Nick Wegman led the Saints in groundballs with 6. Starting goalie William Skipper had 11 saves for the Saints. The Cougars of Durant travel to Newsome on March 18, 2015 for their next game. The Saints next game is a road game against Tampa Prep on Thursday, March 12, 2015.
