Thanks to Coach Buikus for the submission!   3/4/15   AVE MARIA, Fla. – – The Ave Maria University Lacrosse team was defeated by Reinhardt University 17-6 this afternoon in an NWLL conference game. AMU’s record now stands at 0-3 overall; 0-2 NWLL. AMU will be back in action on Friday afternoon in Orlando against Point University at 11 a.m. and a Japanese International team at 2:30 p.m. The first draw battle was won by Marina Gonzales as Ave took the ball in the attacking zone right away. A quick shot by Ave and a save and a hard run transition by the Eagles put Reinhardt on the scoreboard early in the first half. AMU had a 6-5 advantage on the draw controls in the first half; but a strong Reinhardt defense forced 12 first half turnovers. Ave scored their first of three first half goals with 16:35 to go off of an unassisted crease roll by Kaylin Mayeski.  Reinhardt had a narrow 7-3 lead going into half time. The second half saw a battle of defensive plays as neither team scored for over seven minutes to start the half. The Eagles started pulling away with 13 minutes to go in the game as they scored four goals in a three minute span to bring the lead to 10. The Lady Gyrenes were led by Mayeski with the hat trick. Also scoring for AMU was Catie Cox, Buckley, and Castro. Goalie, Hannah Camerota continues to show improvement as she made 11 saves.
