AMU WOMEN’S LACROSSE WINS BIG 20-1 FOR FIRST PROGRAM VICTORY

CLEVELAND, Georgia. – – The Ave Maria University Lacrosse team made history this evening as they recorded their first win in program history, 20-1. The Lady Gyrenes are currently 1-4 overall; 1-3 NWLL. The Blue and Green will next take on LaGrange College in LaGrange, Georgia on Wednesday night at 6:00 p.m.
Lydia Buckley scored the first three goals of the game within three minutes; as AMU never looked back. Nine different players scored in the win, and the Lady Gyrenes were able to work on their transition game, their motion offenses and timing.
“I couldn’t be more proud of the team today. We are playing in sync, and with confidence,” states head coach Kelly Buikus. “The fact that the scoring was so wide spread, speaks volumes. This is a true team win with contributions from all.”
Buckley continues to be a force on the draw circle, as she picked up five draw controls, while Marina Gonzales added four.
Abby Castro played aggressive all over the field, as she picked up seven caused turnovers.
