Anthony Teixeira Named Ivy League Rookie of the Week

Written by Lee Roggenburg on . Posted in .
Former Creekside and Bolles standout attackman Anthony Teixeira started his first game for Cornell last Saturday in a 19-4 win on the road at Dartmouth. To say the least, he made the most of it.  Breaking an early 2-2 tie with his first goal of the game, Anthony netted two more and added two assists, two ground balls and a forced turnover.  His five points were the most for any Big Red player this season.  For that effort, the Ivy League named him its rookie of the week.LNN_4592 Noticed by Coach Matt Kerwick during his time as a Florida resident (when he was Jacksonville’s coach), Anthony had already earned playing time this season on the man up unit, so this breakout game was coming.  A 2014 All-American, he included being named to the Florida Lacrosse News Senior All-Star team in his profile!  Thanks, Anthony, we appreciate the plug!  Take a look at those rosters from last spring – we have so many fine players representing our state all over the country. LNN_4418 Of note, Anthony is the second Floridian to earn conference rookie of the week recognition this year, with Boca Raton’s Parker Giarratana having been so honored twice for his play at Manhattan. Lee Roggenberg has started a series profiling our Sunshine State laxers at the next level and you will find our players are making a bigger mark than you might realize.
