  Excerpt: Bryce Mumpower scored two goals, including the game-winner with just under two minutes remaining Tuesday to help the Lake Mary upset Ponte Vedra 11-9 in a Region 1 boys lacrosse second-round state play-in match. The Rams (15-5) will host Jacksonville Bolles in a region final on Friday at 7 p.m. At stake will be a berth in next week’s state tournament in Jupiter. Ponte Vedra, the No. 1 ranked team in the state according to LaxPower.com, finishes 19-2. Mumpower scored two goals in the final quarter, in which the Rams the Sharks 6-1. Mumpower took a pass from Braeden McKercher and beat Ponte Vedra keeper Wyatt Schupler low to put the Rams up 10-9 with 1:58 left. Vaughn Mauer added an empty-netter with 20 seconds left to cap the Lake Mary victory. Face-off specialist Shiloh Shassian, who scored the game’s first goal 8 seconds into the match, dominated faceoffs in the fourth quarter. “Just focus, look at the ball and fake and finish,” Mumpower said. “It’s just like coach said all year, fake high and finish low.” Kyle Sande scored two of his three goals in the fourth quarter, and Hofstra Charlie Ragault also tallied a goal for the Rams in the fourth.
