Bellando Earns ECC Player of the Week Accolades

(Feb. 24, 2015) – LIU Post junior attackman Matt Bellando (Miami, Fla.), who totaled 12 points as the third-ranked Pioneers are off to a 2-0 start, has been named the East Coast Conference Men’s Lacrosse Player of the Week. In a 12-8 Valentine’s Day win over then-No. 10 Queens (N.C.), Bellando assisted on the green and gold’s first goal and collected a game-high five tallies of his own in the process. He also helped the Pioneer offense to a 14-7 triumph against Roberts Wesleyan in their 2015 ECC opener on Sunday (Feb. 24). Bellando led all players with six points on three goals and three assists. Through two games, the Miami native currently places in the Top-10 in the nation in scoring, averaging 4.0 goals and 6.0 points per game. He is also second in the ECC in goals (8) and points, as well. Bellando and the Pioneers are back in action on Friday (Feb. 27), when they travel to St. Augustine, Fla. for the North Florida College Lacrosse Face-Off. They will face non-conference opponent Saint Leo at St. Augustine High School at 7:30 p.m.
