Bishop Verot Downs Fort Myers, 12-9 in Boys District 14 Championship

From Nick Twardus @News-Press.com A year ago in the District 14 championship game, Bishop Verot, despite only losing one game the entire season, lost the game that was most meaningful — to Estero, who upset the Vikings to take the 2012 title. image“Last year was really tough because we were a great team and we lost by one,” Vikings head coach Marc Krispinsky said. “I couldn’t believe what happened.” Up 12-9 with only eight seconds left in the game, the players and coaches of Bishop Verot counted down the seconds until the final whistle blew. After holding off a ferocious comeback, the Vikings defeated Fort Myers to secure their first title in team history. “I’m just so proud of the way these boys played,” Krispinsky said. “This was a big-big victory for us and a good thing for Bishop Verot Lacrosse because we’re trying to make this program one of the top in the state.” Standing tall in the victory was Dan’s son Marc, who accounted for almost half of the Viking’s (16-4) offensive production, scoring six goals and notching an assist.
