Casey Powell Hired as Director/Head Coach of Lacrosse at North Broward Prep – Hires Dave Cottle as Consultant

North Broward Preparatory School is proud to welcome lacrosse legend Casey Powell as the new Director of Lacrosse/Head Coach. As Director of Lacrosse, Coach Powell will supervise all levels of the boys and girls lacrosse programs.
Widely considered one of America’s best lacrosse players, Powell brings over 27 years of coaching and playing experience to North Broward Prep.
As well as directing the lacrosse program, Casey will serve as the boys varsity head coach this season. He is currently working on building the best high school staff in America and already has commitments from some very well respected coaches who include:
- Kirk Ventiquattro – Hall of Fame High School coaching legend
- Mario Ventiquatto – former player for the Ohio Machine of Major League Lacrosse and Ohio State University.
- Dave Cottle – National Hall of Famer and current Head Coach of the Chesapeake Bayhawks, will be acting as a Program Consultant this upcoming year (Cottlelacrosse.com)
“We are very excited to have Casey join the North Broward Prep Family,” stated NBPS Athletic Director Scott Williams. “His history and background in the sport of lacrosse is widely known, but I was most impressed by Casey’s character and vision. I am confident that he will do great things here and will take our lacrosse programs to the next level.”
In addition to leading NBP Lacrosse, Casey plans on offering special programs to help build the sport of lacrosse in the South Florida area. Some of the best players in the sport are already scheduled to make appearances to the NBP campus. Those players include:
- Ryan Powell – Captain of the 2010 US National Team
- Rob Pannell – 2013 Tewaraton and NCAA All Time scoring leader
- John Grant Jr – Considered the best stick handler in the World. Also, a two time MLL MVP and two time NLL MVP
- Anthony Kelly- One of the top face off specialist in the world. Captain of the Denver Outlaws
- Brodie Merrill – All World and six time MLL Defenseman of the year
- Pat McCabe – Best takeaway defenseman of all time. Captain of 2006 US National Team
- Jesse Schwartzman – Considered the top goaltender in the world. Played colleg lacrosse at Johns Hopkins University and currently a member of the Denver Outlaws
- Brett Queener – Inside Lacrosse Personality of the Year. One of the best goalies and stick handlers
- Kara Connizzerro – 2013 1st team All-American and ESPY Finalist for Female Athlete of the Year
“I’m very excited to take the reigns of the NBP lacrosse program,” said Casey Powell. “The boarding school is conveniently located in beautiful Coconut Creek, FL and is breaking ground on a brand new lighted turf stadium. My goal is to change the culture immediately and bring in the World’s finest lacrosse coaches and players to interact and support our program. It is my intention to attract the top players in the state of Florida and across North America who share the school’s vision of excellence in study and lacrosse. We have a lot of work to do, but I’m excited to begin.”
