Casey Powell Ready for Last Launch Home Game

When the Florida Launch play the Rochester Rattlers at FAU Stadium, Casey Powell will be taking the home field for the final time in his career. The Florida Launch invite all fans to join us Saturday, July 30 at 7:30 p.m. for the lacrosse legends’ final game in Boca Raton.
In a storied career spanning nearly two decades, Powell has earned just about every accolade the sport has to offer. Upon graduating from Syracuse University where the midfielder became an NCAA Champion and a three time 1st Team All-American, Powell turned pro and played in the first ever Major League Lacrosse game in 2001. He went on to win a championship that year and twice more in 2008 and 2013. At age 38, he is the oldest person to win the MLL’s Most Valuable Player award after an incredible 63 point season. His current total of 524 points, a number likely to increase by season’s end, is the most in MLL history.
As one of the most decorated players ever, Powell has used his career to expand the game all over the globe. In 2015, he founded the Casey Powell World Lacrosse Foundation to support the growth of the game and preserve the culture of the sport. Powell has worked extensively to expand lacrosse and has often coached teams as well as hosted clinics. Upon retiring from the Launch, he will trade in his helmet and cleats for a whistle and playbook as he will be the assistant lacrosse coach for Jacksonville University.
Throughout his time in the league, Powell has done just about everything there is to do at the professional level but that hasn’t stopped his competitive fire. “This is my fifteenth season in the league, so I’m certainly ready to hang it up,” Powell said of his retirement. “It’ll be bittersweet, it’s been a great run… I love the playing the game… I love competing.” For your last chance to see #22 in Launch home colors, call 561-923-9067 or check out the tickets tab above.
