Columbus Moves Into The Final Top Ten Coaches Poll of the Season

The regular season is over and the District Championships are getting underway.  While thirty teams will continue next week the majority will be getting ready for summer ball. Here is how the top ten finished up in our weekly Coaches Poll.
  • Peter Cox Jupiter-ArmySt .Andrew’s finishes the season in the number one spot and undefeated against Florida teams.  During the final week they easily handled Dwyer and Pine Crest.  They then had a serious gut check in the District 24 Final against Boca.
  • Jupiter beat a good Barron Collier team 11-5 and Gulf Coast 18-3 in the final week.  They won their District Championship over Jensen Beach 16-4.
  • Lake Highland beat Hagerty in a close 8-6 game and beat Lake Brantley 15-9 to finish the season in our number three spot.  They face Boone tonight for the District 11 Championship.
  • St. Thomas Aquinas beat Gulliver Prep 15-3 and hangs finishes at number four in our poll.  The only two losses they suffered were from the two teams just above them in the poll, Jupiter and Lake Highland. The have won the District 27 Championship and will face the winner of District 28 next week.
  • PV-vs-Gulliver-013_optBenjamin beat Spanish River 15-8 to finish the regular season on a high note.  They are now preparing to face Dwyer for the District 22 Championship tonight.
  • Ponte Vedra beat Lake Brantley in overtime for a huge victory and moved them up a spot in the poll.  They also beat Flagler Palm Coast 19-3.  They have since won an exciting overtime victory in their District 5 Championship game and will face Bolles next week.
  • Lake Brantley was 0-2 on the week losing in overtime to  to Ponte Vedra and then to Lake Highland Prep 9-15. They dropped a spot in the poll but went onto win the District 9 Championship and will play Lake Mary next week in the first round.
  • Lake Mary beat The First Academy 14-6 and West Orange 12-11 to hold onto the number 8 position in the poll.  They have also won the District 8 Championship over Seminole High School and will play Lake Brantley in the next round.
  • Vero Beach beat Martin County 11-5 and Sebastian River 20-0 cruising to a nice 13-2 season.  They play St. Edward’s tonight for the District 20 Championship.
  • Columubus slides into the number ten spot beating  Miami Killian 25-1 and Coral Reef 14-1, enough to take advantage of the untimely loss by Tamp Jesuit to Oak-Hall Gainesville in the final week of the season
