The Creekside Knights (District 6) opened its season big Monday night with a win by both its JV and Varsity teams over Gainesville High. JV started off it’s season with an impressive offensive barrage of scores by attackmen Nick Bowser and Dawson Chasteen scoring three goals each. The Knights led 9-0 at the half. 21 seconds into the second half Eric Spano scored a goal adding to his total of four goals scored for the Knights. The Knights finished the game with an impressive 16-0 score.
The Varsity then took the field in the increasingly cold weather and rain. While there were slippery conditions, the Knights scored two goals within the first four minutes of the game. At the end of the first quarter, the Knights led 6-1. Coach Jason Alford stated, “We were happy to get the win against a very athletic and well coached Gainesville team. Our team has worked hard preparing for the season and they have bonded in such a way that they have each others backs both on and off the field. That kind of camaraderie is what makes this Varsity team very special. I’m excited to see what this season holds for all of our lacrosse players.” The Knights final score was 13-3. The Knights play Fletcher tonight night at 8pm at Creekside.
