For the second night in a row, the Knights pulled out two wins. The JV Knights took on Episcopal in the Knight’s Castle and it was a hard fought back and forth game by both teams with a lot of shots taken in the first half. At half-time the score was 7-2. The Varsity Knights took the field and played Fletcher High School. 6.8 seconds after the opening whistle, Senior Julian Bonilla won the face-off and immediately scored unassisted. This set the tone for the rest of the game. The Fletcher team scored it’s first goal via Fletcher Graham. At the half, the score was 9-2. Coach Jason Alford stated, “as a team we were looking to improve our execution from Monday nights game. Our program has a lot of respect for a much improved Fletcher team that is well coached. We were happy with the effort that our team gave in the win.” In the second half, the Knights put up several more scores including one from Freshman Matt Gupton for his first goal of his High School career. Sophomore Tim Vanderlinde (4,2) and Senior Julian Bonilla (4,1) led all scorers. For the game the Knights had 8 different players take part in the scoring with 9 of the 15 goals being assisted. The game ended with the final score of 15-2. The Knights also scooped up 52 Ground Balls with Julian Bonilla (6), Gabe Noto (5), and Parker Scott (5) leading the way. The defensive effort was anchored by Seniors Tiernan Hart and Evan Kamm leading the way for Freshman Goalie Glenn Mandel (5 saves) to shut out the Senators in the second half.
The Knights will take on Bishop Snyder in Jacksonville on Saturday and play Episcopal Monday in the Moe’s Classic at Jacksonville University.
