District Championships are Over – Let the State Tournament Begin!

North East Bracket – (Districts 1-7) Maclay won District 1 with a 13-6 victory over Chiles. They have the bye this year and will await the winner of the Episcopal (District 2) vs. Providence (District 3) first round game to be played at Providence at 7:00 on Tuesday. PV-vs-Bolles-007_optDistrict 4 winners, Bolles will play District 5 winner, Ponte Vedra.  The game is at Ponte Vedra at 7:00 Tuesday.  The winner will play the winner of District 6 vs. District 7 game. District 6 champions, St. Augustine, will travel to Gainesville on Tuesday to take on Oak-Hall, the District 7 champs.  Game time is 7:00. Central Florida Bracket – (Districts 8-15) In a great match up District 8 Champions, Lake Mary, will head to Lake Brantley to take on the District 9 Champions.  Lake Brantley won the regular season match up 9-7.  Both teams spent most of the season on our Top Ten Coaches poll.  This is a true “toss-up” game which takes place at 8:00 at Lake Brantley’s Tom Storey Field on Tuesday. District 10 Champions, West Orange High School, head to Lake Highland Prep to take on the District 11 Champions and last season’s state semi-finalists.  The game is at 8:00 on Tuesday at Lake Highland Prep. Winter Park vs Brantley_optWinter Park, District 12 Champs, will need to get past Hagerty.  Hagerty won the District 13 Championship with a 20-7 Thumping of Timber Creek.  These two met in the regular season with Hagerty taking a decisive 15-4 win. Game time is 7:00 at Hagerty on Tuesday. District 14 Champions, Olympia, travel to Tampa to take on Tampa Jesuit.  TJ won District 15 and was on our Top Ten list until losing to Oak Hall in the final week of the regular season.  Game time is 7:00 Tuesday at Jesuit. South Central Bracket (Districts 16-22) District 16 Champion Bishop Verot scored their first ever District Championship with a 12-9 win over Ft. Meyers and will enjoy a bye in the next round.  They will wait for the winner of the Gulf Coast vs. Barron Collier re-match. Matt Ihm_optDistrict 17 Champion Gulf Coast lost a regular season match up to Barron Collier 13-5.  Barron Collier is playing solid right now and won the District 18 Championship tournament without giving up a goal. Game is at Cougar Stadium at Barron Collier on Tuesday at 8:00. District 19 Champs, Melbourne Central Catholic, will have their hands full when they face the 14-2 District 20 Champions Vero Beach.  Vero won the weather delayed District Championship over St. Ed’s 16-3.  Game is at Vero Beach High School at 7:00 on Tuesday. District 21 v District 22 pits Benjamin against Jupiter in Tuesday’s biggest game.  These are the two strongest teams in the bracket and the winner will certainly emerge as the favorite to head to the final four.  Game time is 7:00 on Tuesday at Benjamin. South Bracket (Districts 23-30) vs LHP_optDistrict 23 Winner, Wellington, will look to play giant killer as they take on St. Andrew’s.  The District 24 Champs survived a scare in a comeback win to advance over Boca.  Game is scheduled for 7:00 on Tuesday at St. Andrew’s. District 25 Champion Pine Crest will host District 26 Champs, Stoneman Douglass.  Game is scheduled for a 5:00 face off at Pine Crest. District 27 Champion Archbishop McCarthy upset Cypress Bay in an exciting comeback victory in OT.  They will need another big upset to stay in the tournament as they host St. Thomas Aquinas at 2:00 on Tuesday. The District 29 versus District 30 game has Coral Shores hosting Columbus.  There are those that think Columbus may be the dark horse to advance out of this bracket.  It all starts at 7:00 at Coral Shores on Tuesday.
