St Brendan Week #2
With Week number One in the books here at St Brendan, I look forward to the beginning of Week Two and then our tournament, which will take place on February 6th and 7th at Pope John Paul. This week is a big week in our program’s history as we are having our St Brendan Family Day on Saturday and our “Green and White” scrimmage.
The most challenging aspect of building this particular start up program (as I would venture to say is the case in many other new programs) is transcending the idea of commitment to the program and team. Communicating with the team about what it means to be a student athlete and the balance of the two ideas has been a priority on a daily basis at practice. Building a program is a multi front coordination of administration, teachers, coaches, parents and the team. Trying to get each element on the same page is the challenge, although it is a given that academics is always first.
St Brendan’s varsity program is a blessing to have and working with eager, hungry kids has been a joy. I look forward to the challenges and victories ahead.
