Above – Garrett Boyle (Saint Leo) and PV match up against Lake Mary tonight
Maclay vs Episcopal – Quinton Miller and his Episcopal teammates head to Talahassee to take on the Maclay Maruaders tonight at 7:00. Episcopal beat Providence 9-8 in the first round after beating Stanton Prep for the District 4 Championship. Miller can rack up points scoring goals and dishing off the ball as well. Zach Gerry anchors a solid dense and Mick Upchurch should win his share at the X tonight. Maclay brings high caliber talent with Teddy Transou (Duke) on the defensive end and Stephen Chase (Notre Dame) on the attack. Tuesday night it was Luke Langford who was getting it done as he scored 6 in their win over Oak Hall in the first round and Andrew Killinger (Vasser) must be accounted for at the midfield. Maclay won the District 1 Championship with the win over Chiles. This will be the first meeting of these two teams this season. We will have our man in the State’s Capital, Sammy Chase, keeping us updated @FloridaLX on Twitter as well as our friends at Tally Capitals Lax who keep us updated on all of the action in Tally
@TallyCapitalsLAX!
Ponte Vedra vs Lake Mary – The addition of two new districts this year got rid of the two first round byes from years past and moved District 8 up into the North Bracket. So this is the first time these two teams have faced each other in the playoffs. These teams have not met since the opening game of the 2012 season, a game that was won by PV in overtime. This will be a fun match up between a high scoring PV offense and a tough Lake Mary defense. The Rams have only allowed double digit scores against them once this season. Ponte Vedra, at 19-2, has scored double digits in each of their victories this year.
Look for PV Seniors Cody Legeza (Skidmore) and Garrett Boyle to step up with Miles Silva (Army), who has been red hot lately, and Logan Taucher to put pressure on the Lake Mary defense. Lake Mary’s defense anchored by Alec Quint, Ben Carbone, and goalie Harrison Chandler will look to neutralize the potent PV offense. At the other end of the field we are looking for fireworks as LM’s Josh Marmetschke and PV’s Evan Weiner (Dickenson) are sure to put on a good show.
I am heading up to Ponte Vedra tonight to see this battle in person and will be live tweeting the game. So follow me @FloridaLX tonight to keep up on this game and get updates on all eight games around the state.
