North and South Florida Clubs to compete for State Championship in new state of the art league Delray Beach, Fla. (December 4, 2013) – The ELEV|8 Sports Institute is excited to sponsor the Florida Competitive Lacrosse Association, a state of the art league which will crown a state champion in Under 11, 13 and 15 divisions in April of this year. The league will consist of Blue Devil Elite, Storm, Snipers and Xtreme in the South division and Braveheart, Possums, Thunder and Creeks in the North Division. The clubs will compete on Sunday’s beginning in February. Each team will play 2 games against the clubs in their division and 1 game each against clubs from the other division. Teams will be seeded and play in a State Championship tournament April 19-20 in Cocoa Beach, Fl. The league will feature up to date standings, statistics and league leaders. Players will have the opportunity to earn 1st Team and 2nd Team All-State recognition as well as Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year Awards. Perhaps the most innovative feature of the league will be the Player Rankings which will rank the Top 40 players in each age group. Terry Crowley, founder of Xtreme Lacrosse decided to help start the competitive league after speaking with many of the parents in his organization. “Parents in my organization are looking for more lacrosse especially in the winter and spring. This league will allow players to continue with their club teams while also competing in their recreational and middle school seasons.” Tony Lowe, the Executive Director of Lacrosse for the ELEV|8 Sports Institute is excited for the FCLA’s features. “ELEV|8 Sports Institute is an industry leader in Lacrosse, Baseball and Basketball. The league, and especially the Player Rankings and All-State teams are going to benefit the players in the college recruitment process. With colleges recruiting Freshmen and Sophomores, these rankings will help recruiters track the history of players from an early age before they set foot in a high school program.” Tom West of Possums Lacrosse added “This league will revolutionize the game in Florida. We’re excited to have our club involved and be part of a league that grows the sport in Florida.“ He added, “The FCLA has some of the best clubs in Florida working together for the expansion of the sport.” The FCLA will begin league play on February 22 and conclude with State Championship weekend April 19-20. The North teams will play the South teams in a “Crossover” event March 8 hosted by Blue Devil Elite in Jupiter, Fl.
