“Coach Carter has been coaching club, high school, college, and professional lacrosse for the past 16 years. He has a track record of producing strong teams at all levels and has a good understanding of what it takes to build a successful program,” said Kidd.

Most recently, Coach Carter led the University of Richmond Lacrosse program from a club program to a NCAA Division I program. Prior to the University of Richmond, Coach Carter started and was the head coach at NCAA Division III Ursinus for eight years. Coach Carter also coached at the professional level for the World Champion Philadelphia Barrage of Major League Lacrosse. Before Ursinus, Carter served as the head assistant for his alma mater, the Neumann College Knights, where he helped lead the Knights to an ECAC South Region Championship.

“I am honored and humbled to be named Director of Lacrosse at the Episcopal School of Jacksonville. I would like to thank Charley Zimmer, Andy Kidd and the entire search committee for their efforts during the process. The Episcopal community was so warm and inviting on my visit and everyone welcomed my family in with open arms. I am excited for my family to become a part of the ESJ family. Furthermore I am eager to work with the young men that play lacrosse at ESJ and take the program to national prominence with hard work, integrity and strong fundamental play,” said Coach Carter.

In addition to coaching college and professional lacrosse, Coach Carter has experience coaching high school and club lacrosse. During his days coaching high school lacrosse at Friends Central School and The Phelps School he was able to shepherd several of his athletes to the Division I, II, and III level.

“Coach Carter possesses a vast network of college contacts that will prove valuable for our athletes who have aspirations of competing at the next level.” said Kidd.

In addition to coaching, Coach Carter will serve as a physical education instructor at Episcopal.

Coach Carter and his wife Tonya have three children, Gabi, Mia, and Tre.
