(Women’s Lacrosse) – Eight different players found the back of the net for No. 12 Florida Tech (8-1), as the Panthers extended their win streak to eight in a 20-5 thumping of Concordia-St. Paul (6-4) on Thursday night at Panther Stadium. Aleah Fjelstad paced the Panthers with six points, on four goals and two assists, to go along with three draw controls and two ground balls. Caroline Dunleavy finished with four points on a goal and three assists. Mary Gormley, Sara Grenier and Allie Modica each recorded a hat trick in the victory. Gormley chipped in six ground balls and four caused turnovers, both game-highs, while Modica collected four draw controls and four ground balls. Stephanie Stuart (8-1) made four saves in goal for the Panthers. FIT dominated the stat sheet, ending the contest with more shots (35-12), ground balls (29-18) and draw controls (13-12), while also going a perfect 14-of-14 on clear attempts. The Crimson and Gray led 4-0 after the first 6:32 of play on goals by Fjelstad, Lauren Tybor, Grenier and Gormley. Kailey Heinl put CSP on the board at the 21:29 mark, cutting the deficit to three. However, the Panthers answered with three more tallies over the next 2:44 of game time to push the lead to 7-1 with 18:45 left in the first half. After Heinl’s second of the game made it 7-2, FIT tacked on seven more goals, while allowing just one, and increased its advantage to 14-3 at halftime. FIT outscored CSP 6-2 in the second half to reach the 20-goal mark for the third time this season.
