Quote Board “After a month on the road, the boys are excited to return home to D.B Milne Field to open up conference play. Our out-of-conference schedule was rigorous, but we have learned a lot about who we are as a group, and I believe we are better off because of it. We are going to need every bit of experience we gained in our out of conference schedule to find ways to have success against Richmond. This team is in the top-20 and coming off a victory against the defending national champions. It is going to be a SoCon battle, and I am looking forward to the start of our new season. Saturday will also be special because of our guests on campus. We will have five young men and their families from Nemours Children’s Hospital. Our guests will serve as honorary captains and join the team on sidelines throughout the game. Following the game, our team will host a free boy’s lacrosse clinic for Lighthouse Lacrosse. It is going to be an unbelievable day for the Jacksonville lacrosse community and we hope people will come out to support!” – Head Coach John Galloway #PhinLaxFacts
  • Jacksonville is in its eighth season and first under new Head Coach John Galloway
  • Jacksonville faces yet another ranked opponent, its second consecutive and third overall
  • McLean Chicquen and Brett Reilly both average an assist-per-game, good for top-10 in the SoCon
  • Ben Gleichenhaus has 13.83 saves-per-game which is second in the conference and third nationally. Joe Riccadonna of VMI tops the list with 14.60
  • Will Hendrick‘s three man-up goals is third in the SoCon and ranks 29th in the nation
Series History Saturday is the fourth meeting in the series, and the Spiders have captured the previous three contests. Last season, Richmond won 12-6 at Robins Stadium. Do You Know the Enemy? The Spiders knocked off defending national champion North Carolina, 6-5, on Monday night. The only setback the Spiders have suffered came to Duke in which a 6-2 halftime lead morphed into a 9-8 loss. Richmond boasts a suffocating defense that allows the fewest goals in the nation, and senior Ryan Dennis was named the conference’s Defensive Player of the Week after causing seven turnovers in two games. His 17 in total this season is top-five nationally. Previously Ben Gleichenhaus was a stalwart yet again behind the net with 17 saves but the Jacksonville offense could not break through as the Dolphins dropped to #18 Duke, 13-6, Monday at a rain-soaked Koskinen Stadium. Coming Soon… Jacksonville goes back on the road to play at Air Force in SoCon action on Saturday, Mar. 25.   JU WOMEN   GAMEDAY INFORMATION Game 7: Jacksonville University (2-4) vs. Wagner (2-5) | Mar. 18, 2017 | D.B. Quote Board “This game means so much to us because it’s our opportunity to perform for the kids at Nemours. These are kids who fight every day and many of them make it through their treatments thanks to the talented staff at Nemours. We train to be fighters, but they are fighters each and every day. Something we talk about a lot is your desire to fight or to feel fear. We work on our fight response because fear doesn’t exist. It’s a distraction from the truth. The truth is that we have a great bunch of strong young women who can make a difference in the world, particularly here in Jacksonville. There’s no fear in that. In fact, fearless is one of our mottos this season. We are reminded of that motto all week as we prepare for this game. As a team we need to play a more complete game together and stop playing as individuals which takes away from our team performance. That’s our primary goal against WAGNER – to play as a complete team for the full 60.”-JU Associate Head Coach Paul McCord #PhinLaxFacts
  • Jacksonville University went 13-5 last season and a perfect 8-0 in ASUN Conference play. The Dolphins have won 24 consecutive ASUN regular season games
  • JU paces the ASUN and is eighth nationally with 12.17 caused-turnovers-per-game
  • Danielle Della Rocca, the ASUN’s all-time leader in goals and points, eclipsed the 200-point plateau in Monday’s game
  • Rachel Aus needs six points to reach 100 in her career
  • Head Coach Mindy McCord has guided Jacksonville to 96 wins in her tenure
Series History Saturday will be only the second meeting between the programs, with the first taking place on Mar. 19, 2014 when JU won 13-8 at home. Della Rocca scored a hat trick and Aus goaled a pair. Do You Know the Enemy? Wagner earned its first win of the season with a 16-13 triumph over St. Mary’s (CA) on Monday. Middie Marjorie Dehm poured in a career-best four goals. Against Stetson on Thursday, the Seahawks prevailed 17-12 with four goals from both Lauren Ednie and Olivia Streilein. Previously Jacksonville University outlasted Niagara University by a score of 12-8 Wednesday at D.B. Milne Field. Lillie Miller was one of four Dolphins to score twice in addition to her five ground balls, four caused turnovers, a pair of draw controls, and an assist. Coming Soon… Jacksonville opens ASUN play on the road with a Mar. 24 tilt at Old Dominion.
